![]() HP has updates available for download to address the vulnerability. However, some steps and keyboard combinations may differ, so YMMV. If that doesnt work then I guess its a lost cause. The Phoenix BIOS Crisis Recovery can be used on all ThinkPads from T420 and before and maybe even HP and Acer machines (though it has only been tested on T500, T43, and X200). Im going to remove the HD, hook it up to my laptop through my sata converter, plug my External HD in as well and then use Acronis to try and get the recovery partition off the bad laptop so maybe I can create a recovery disc that way. When trt to use any other boot USB, the laptop wont even recognize that its in there, just give me "OS boot" or "UEFI file boot" or something. Did the same thing as the recovery, sat there forever and then went black and nothing for 3 hours. I was able to get it to ancknowledge that a windows boot disc USB was in so I clicked on it to start from. If I hit F9 I can choose the boot option. The windows logo came up and said "preparing to fix the system" then it sat there for 20 minutes with the little circle going round and round and then went to a black screen. I thought I was really on to something last night when I repeatedly hit F11 and actually got it to start the sytsem rcovery, or so I thought. What I do find interesting is that I can hit F10 and enter the BIOS. I appreciate the ideas guys but nothing is working. ![]()
